E30: Autocross 4 and 5The
e30 had another successful weekend of autocross. The video above shows the course on Sunday, which makes me think the car ought to be sitting a little lower. I’m not sure if it is the stickier Hoosier A6 tires (we used to run Kumho V710s) or that the car is riding about an inch higher than it ever did before, but we have never lifted two tires before and it happened about three times this weekend.
The car also had some issues with overheating (well, getting hotter than normal) and it was only about 75 degrees out, so between events I am going to change out the thermostat and see about replacing my pusher fan with a puller or more powerful pusher if I don’t have enough space. Brake pads are also needed up front and I might look into SDS’s new launch control setting for their standalone.
Even with the above issues we still managed to be the 5th fastest door slammer (so, not including the non-street-legal mod cars) and the fastest thing that drove to the event (didn’t arrive in a trailer) with a time of 65.442 on Saturday (1.745 off of first place ) and 40.806 on Sunday (1.246 off of first). Not too shabby for a car and driver that haven’t been running in two years.
